Moving Without All The Hassle

Moving Without All The Hassle

I have never been one of those people who is overly organized, but about a year ago, I knew that I had to get things together. I was assigned to move across the country for work, and I knew that I was going to need to do my part in order to move without all of the hassle. I started investigating the possibility of getting a storage unit, and it was great to find a unit that worked really well for me. I loaded a bunch of my unused furniture, boxes of clothing, and other knick-knacks into the space, and it made a huge difference. Check out this website to learn more about moving.

Helpful Tips For Unpacking And Getting Settled After A Move

Alexander Wood

The first few days after you move can be a bit nerve-wracking. You may be anxious to get everything un-boxed and put in its proper place, but this can be an overwhelming task. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to make unpacking go a bit more smoothly. Use this guide to help you plan for how to get your new home in order after your move.

Take Pictures

Taking pictures of your home before you begin packing can make it easier for you to remember where everything goes. Take pictures of your closets so you can remember how you had everything organized, and take pictures of the furniture in each room. If you will be having your moving company arrange your furniture for you as part of your move, you can give them the pictures for reference so everything is put in the proper place.

Prioritize Your Rooms

Chances are, you won't need to use your spare bedroom, basement, or sunroom right away. Save these rooms for last and focus on unpacking the areas you'll need to use the most. Your kitchen should be at the top of your priority list if you plan on cooking meals right away, and at least one bathroom in your home should be unpacked and ready for use right after you move. You might not need to unpack your clothes right away, but be sure to set up your bed (or beds, if you have a family) so you can have a comfortable night's sleep in your new home.

Go Grocery Shopping

Once you have your kitchen arranged, make a trip to the local grocery store. You'll feel more settled with a kitchen full of food, and you won't have to rely on takeout for the first few days in your new home. Be sure to make a list of any small items you might need to purchase, such as paper towels or cleaning supplies, which can be bought at the grocery store. This will ensure you have the supplies you need to get to work on the other rooms in the home when you have the chance.

Organize Boxes By Room

It will be much easier to get everything unpacked and in its proper place if you organize your boxes during the moving process. Label each box so the movers know which rooms to put everything in, and have the boxes lined up against one wall. With the boxes limited to one area of each room, you'll have more space to work with as you unpack and arrange your items. Be sure to write down your plan for unpacking so you can execute every step in the order you want without forgetting anything. If you use unpacking services though a company like Caccamise Moving & Storage Co, share your plan with them so everything is arranged exactly as you want it.
