Moving Without All The Hassle
About Me
Moving Without All The Hassle

I have never been one of those people who is overly organized, but about a year ago, I knew that I had to get things together. I was assigned to move across the country for work, and I knew that I was going to need to do my part in order to move without all of the hassle. I started investigating the possibility of getting a storage unit, and it was great to find a unit that worked really well for me. I loaded a bunch of my unused furniture, boxes of clothing, and other knick-knacks into the space, and it made a huge difference. Check out this website to learn more about moving.

Efficient Computer Transfer and Upgrades for Business

Alexander Wood

Large-scale computer transfers involve a lot of technical expertise and consist of a lot more than just moving a few boxes and plugging them back up. The right systems need to go to the right user in most cases, and if upgrades are involved, you'll need a plan for getting old and new systems to the right place. If your business is moving to a new building or is equipping a building expansion, here are a few things to consider with commercial moving service and Information Technology (IT) assets.

Proper Dismantling and Redeploying

Disconnecting computers is a simple task for trained IT personnel but not for your non-technical employees. There are actually a few things that can break when not removed properly.

On a standard business computer, you'll need to remove the mouse, keyboard, monitor, and network cable. Most of these cables can be removed by simply pulling them away, but even this task can be failed. Yanking the devices out from the side or at any angle except from the back can bend the metal or plastic used for contact, making it either hard to connect or making it easy for the connection to the slip out by accident.

Sound like common sense? A lot of people rip out cables in any way they feel, and even if you think you're one of the careful types, you also need to worry about any non-technical workers in the area.

Network cables are especially at risk from incorrect removal. These devices are just bigger telephone cord connectors with plastic tabs, and if you pull too hard on them, the tab will pop off. This means that the cable can slip out easily, and you may end up with an employee who disconnects every time a shoe or nudge of the table pulls the cable.

Management of Upgrades and Storage for Parts

Are you replacing old systems with the new in a new location? You need to plan for both electronics recycling and old equipment storage as separate processes from the commercial moving plan.

If you plan on recycling the old systems, what kind of recycling do you have in mind? Is it full-on scrapping at a recycling center, or will your IT professionals keep a few parts in storage? You can even donate these old systems if they aren't a decade old, as they can still be useful to the community. The world is becoming more dependent on computers, and if you plan on keeping your business viable in the future, equipping local youth with the tools they need to succeed can be a nice investment—and a tax-deductible one.

For computers that will go into storage as backup, make sure that you have a clean, ventilated, and filtered storage space available. Consider making this an expansion of IT department area, since you don't want dust buildup to be a problem. Wasting IT time on cleaning up dusty closets can take away from other projects, and it slows down the bringing in of replacement systems when a problem happens.
